    • Dr. Boogie – Look Good, Feel Beautiful Interview

Written by admin in interviews at 5:47 am on Aug 3rd, 09

THE HAIR CARE SECRETS OF CELEBRITY HAIR STYLIST, DR. BOOGIE

There are two things that every woman desires in life--- someone to make them feel beautiful, and someone they can trust to tell all their secrets to. Celebrity “it girls” such as Kimora Lee Simmons, Lisa Raye, Raven Symone, Taraji P. Henson, and Vivica A. Fox know who to turn to, when they need someone to make them gorgeous from head-to-toe, inside-and-out; and that some one is none other than celebrity hair stylist—Dr. Boogie. Dr. Boogie is the acclaimed hairstylist responsible for giving Eve and Keyshia Cole their signature short crops, and is hailed as the man with the “magic hands,” because once he touches someone’s head, their hair takes on a new life of its own, and becomes “magical.”

Growing up in the ghettoes of Richmond, California, Uarian Langerston, also known as Dr. Boogie, dreamed of doing the hair of the rich and famous. With out reservation, he packed up his bags and relocated to Hollywood, where he landed a job instantly as a celebrity hair stylist behind the scenes, for hit TV show, All of Us, starring the beautiful Lisa Raye.

Dr. Boogie laughed infectiously, as he began to reminiscence:  “I like to make women feel good—my whole slogan is when you look good, you feel great. Where I came from, my mom was in a battered situation, and I used to comb her hair after she was going through a situation with my father. So I learned as a young child, that touching a woman’s hair and offering her an illusion, made her feel good on the outside and on the inside.”

It became apparent that Dr. Boogie was a star in his own right when he landed a coveted spot on popular reality TV show, Sheer Genius, where he competed against eleven other stylists from across the country, for a 10,000 grand prize. Dr. Boogie visibly stood out the show, and he soon became noted for his impressive technical hair styling skills, sharp sense of humor, and wit.

Soon, everyone began requesting for Dr. Boogie’s magical hands to touch their heads—even superstar, Kimora Lee Simmons, couldn’t get enough. Dr. Boogie shared, “I did Kimora’s hair a couple of times, and she loved it so much that Russell invited me back to do her hair on a permanent basis. I practically lived with them, and did her hair 24/7.”

Dr. Boogie admitted that most of his relationships with most of his celebrity clients started out as business, and quickly turned into friendship. “I knew Kimora personally,” he revealed. “The Kimora I knew was the sweetest person on earth, not this diva she was made out to be on TV. This was a woman who was concerned about other people’s feelings. Kimora is the definition of fabulosity--She is absolutely beautiful. Her beauty regimen--pinch her cheeks, lip gloss and go.”

“Every one wants to know the dirt about their fave celebrities,” he explained. “And since I do just about every talked about celebrities’ hair in Hollywood, I figured why not dispel the rumors, and let the stars reveal the truth.”

Perhaps it is Dr. Boogie’s infectious personality that enables him to form close friendships with all of his clients, particularly actresses Vivica A. Fox, and Lisa Raye, who is the spokes woman for his booming hair empire, Boogie Secrets.

As the president and creative director of Boogie Secrets, Dr. Boogie aims to create sexy hairpieces for every woman, that are both easy to wear and affordable.
“I am the only African American hair stylist that owns and manufactures a line of hair pieces in a largely Asian dominated industry,” Dr. Boogie stressed. “My hair pieces are easy to apply, and will make any woman look and feel fabulous. So please support a brother!”

Known for his love to share hair tips and hot gossip, Dr. Boogie recently launched his guilty pleasure blog, “Chair Chat with Dr. Boogie,” a concept he believes, is a ‘delicious combination.’

“Every one wants to know the dirt about their fave celebrities,” he explained. “And since I do just about every talked about celebrities’ hair in Hollywood, I figured why not dispel the rumors, and let the stars reveal the truth. While I am doing their hair, I am giving you the inside info straight from the source’s mouth, and what could be more better than that?” he laughed.

Hair care is what Dr. Boogie is most passionate about. If African American women desire longer hair, he advocated, “I know that we all want bouncy hair, bounce, bounce, bounce, but ladies, ya’ll need oil!” he laughed. “If you go back to the gerri curl days, every one with gerri curls had hair. That hair was hydrated, so if you keep your hair oiled and healthy, (not greasy,) and brush it up, and pull it back every so often, after lightly oiling the scalp, and applying a Dr. Boogie’s bun, watch it grow. The key is hydration. And remember ladies, your body is a temple, what you eat is your hair. ”

Dr. Boogie snitches, and reveals the latest with Lisa Raye, Vivica A. Fox, Keri Hilson, his latest project, (that just might surprise you,) and shares more of his infamous hair style secrets!
