Walk Our Way: Jam Master Jay Tribute

ibhmagazine Peace Boston in partnership with The Jam Master Jay Foundation for Youth, Justin Springer, Forty8Three Films, UMMF, C1 Entertainment, and AMP, with support from The Boston Hip-Hop Alliance presents: Boston Unplugged Volume III: Walk Our Way, A Tribute to Jam Master Jay on Sunday July 26th, 2009 at Harpers Ferry, Brighton, MA 8pm-2am.
The event will honor heroic turntablist and producer Jam Master Jay (Jason Mizell) and “Walk This Way”; Run DMC and Aerosmith's groundbreaking Rap/Rock collaboration, July, 1986. This also marks the first anniversary of Peace Boston’s double compilation album Peace in the Streets.
Some of Boston’s premier acts will offer tribute to the legendary Jam Master Jay. DJs Cruz, Ill Neil, Koo Koo, Vance, Shame, Nestle Quik, Lefty, Ant G, Daz-One, Killer DJ, Act One, and Doc Luv will spin in a DJ salute, Moe Pope, Agari Crew, True 2 Life Music, Perfekt & Chance, and Melodeego will play, plus a Boston Tribute to "Walk This Way" featuring Shaymin and Perfekt.
Guests will enjoy live performances by Peace in the Streets artists Tru Indeed, Lyrical, Lisa Bello, Lady Enchantress, Tshombe, Emcee Sutter Caine, Louie Bello, and Mr. Harvey, backed by Velvet Stylus. David H., Real Talk, and DJ Cruz will host.
Hip-Hop Pioneer and Grammy-award winning DJ, GrandMixer DXT (Herbie Hancock’s “Rockit”) and Whodini’s Grandmaster Dee will join the festivities as special guests, as will Candy Lynn and EnMotion, Dancers for Peace.
This breakthrough event will raise funds for The Jam Master Jay Foundation for Youth, a non-profit 501[c]3 organization developed by the mother and brother of the late legend, to continue the legacy of supporting educational and economic opportunities, including scholarship endeavors and awards, for young people ages 6-21, as well as recognize Jam Master Jay’s many contributions to Hip-Hop culture and music history.
Peace Boston will be on site and their Peace in the Streets compilation album and merchandise will be for sale to raise funds for youth violence prevention and family support efforts.
$30 VIP Pass: includes admission to VIP areas, Meet, Greet and Eat with the JMJ Foundation for Youth, a gift from adidas, free drink, and a JMJ Tribute Tee-Shirt. LIMITED number of VIP passes available at the door.
