Laurieann Gibson

Laurieann Gibson, choreographer for Lady Gaga and formerly Diddy’s “Making the Band,” has scored a “docusoap” series at E! produced by Ryan Seacrest.

The show, “The Dance Scene” has received a series greenlight. Eight episodes of the half-hour show will follow Gibson as she trains and leads a team of ambitious assistant choreographers and dancers as they prepare to work with high-profile stars.

“The competitive world of the professional dancer is grueling creative work,” says Lisa Berger, executive vice president of programming at E! “Watching Laurieann mentor these young artists, who will do anything to make it in the business, gives us a glimpse into a world where the pursuit of success and excellence outweighs all else.”

“Dance is at the center of pop culture — today more than ever — and Laurieann is an amazing force accelerating this huge wave of creativity,” Seacrest says. “This series gives audiences an insider’s view of how competitive the dance world is, the talent and ambition that a dancer needs to be successful in the Hollywood scene, and the drama that ensues along the way.”

The series debuts April 10.

Braxton Family Values

Toni Braxton and her family are about to keep it real! The R&B singer recently signed a deal for her very own reality television series on the WE (Women’s Entertainment) network. The show will be called Braxton Family Values and will feature Toni's sisters, singers Traci, Towanda, Trina and Tamar.

Braxton Family Values is scheduled to premiere in April.

Tina Marie

Relatives found Teena Marie's  body Sunday morning at her home. Relatives say Teena seemed fine yesterday, when she spent Christmas with her brother. Teena spoke at length yesterday with Lynn, who says Teena seemed "fine."

So far it's unclear what caused the singer's death but the Pasadena Police Department tells TMZ they do no suspect foul play. They say it looks like Teena died of natural causes. The L.A. County Coroner's Office will perform an autopsy.

We're told Teena had a seizure a month ago, but it's unclear what triggered it.

Marie was nominated for a Grammy four times ... her first top ten hit was "I'm Just a Sucker for Your Love."

President Barack Obama signs the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Repeal Act of 2010

Surrounded by senior military officials and members of Congress, President Barack Obama signed a landmark law ordering America’s armed services to allow gay men and women serve openly for the first time.

“For we are not a nation that says, ‘don’t ask, don’t tell,’” Obama told 500 guests at a signing ceremony at the Interior Department. “We are a nation that says, ‘Out of many, we are one.’”

As they applauded his arrival, Obama told them he was “overwhelmed” and that it was a “very good day.” He thanked the lawmakers who worked on the legislation but saved his warmest praise for the leaders of the Pentagon and the troops themselves.

“History will remember well the courage and vision of Secretary Gates, of Admiral Mike Mullen, who spoke from the heart and said what he believed was right,” Obama said.

The change won’t be immediate, however. The bill requires the military service chiefs to complete implementation plans before lifting the old “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy — and certify to lawmakers that it won’t damage combat readiness, as critics charge.

But Obama promises, “We are not going to be dragging our feet to get this done.” He said that years from now, people will wonder “why was there ever a source of controversy in the first place.”

Gay troops fought at Gettysburg and at Iwo Jima, Obama said. “Their names are etched into the walls of our memorials. Their headstones dot the grounds at Arlington,” he says. “So as the first generation serving openly in our armed forces, you will stand for all those who came before you. You will serve as role models for all who come in. I know you will fulfill this responsibility with integrity and honor, just as you have every other mission.”

Obama added: “Your country needs you. Your country wants you. And we will be honored to welcome you into the ranks of the finest military the world has ever known.”

When he visited Afghanistan a few weeks ago, Obama recalled, a woman grabbed him in a rope line and whispered to him, “Get ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ done.” He said he told her, “I promise you, I will.”

“For we are not a nation that says, ‘don’t ask, don’t tell,’ ” he said. “We are a nation that says, ‘Out of many, we are one.’ We are a nation that welcomes the service of every patriot. … It is my honor to sign this bill into law.”

Then they took the stage again so that Eminem could perform "Won't Back Down". Then they switched off so Wayne could do his "6'7" track.

On Friday, President Barack Obama signed the $858 billion Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010 into law which provides tax relief for families around the country and prevents a massive tax hike next year.

The President said “by a wide bipartisan margin, both houses of Congress have passed a package of tax relief that will protect the middle class, grow our economy and create jobs for the American people“.

Reportedly nearly half of all African American children will benefit from the expansion of the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit.

Singer Keyshia Cole was seen leaving a taping of the Wendy Williams show in NYC. The singer was there to promote her new album ‘Calling All Hearts’ (in stores December 21) and perform her single ‘Long Way Down’ in New York City.

Aretha Franklin

Fans of Aretha Franklin, 68, who has not said what she is being treated for, gathered in Detroit on Wednesday, a day before the operation, to hold a candle light vigil in her honor.

In a statement, she praised medical staff "whom were blessed by all the prayers of the city and the country".

In November, she cancelled all public appearances for six months "at the insistence" of her doctors.

A statement at the time from her publicist said she was "very anxious to get back on the road to perform for her fans".

Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business is back for a 2nd season. This season Brandy is seen working on her dance moves for ABC’s ‘Dancing With The Stars’ as well getting back to dating again. Ray J is up to his usual antics. Check out the trailer above.

Former reality star Keyshia Cole was caught singing off-key during her appearance on Jay Leno’s Show. What's up with Keyshia’s voice? The 29-year-old sang “Long Way Down” while promoting her upcoming album, Calling All Hearts, which drops December 21.

Chad Ochocinco and Evelyn Lozada

Chad Ochocinco recently confirmed reports that he is engaged to fellow VH1 reality star Evelyn Lozada.

During an appearance on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show, the Cincinnati Bengals receiver was grilled about rumors that he recently popped the question to the “Basketball Wives” cast member.

“It’s time for me to sit down,” he said after confirming the news. “I got to sit down, man. Enough is enough. I’m 32. My days are over!

“You know how you deal with this person, that person, but you can’t ever find everything in one individual? I think I found everything I’ve been looking for in one person.”

When Seacrest then asked if Lozada was “perfect,” the NFL star replied, “There ain’t no such thing as perfect but it’s close enough!”

Despite reports that VH1 is filming their road to the altar in a new reality show, Ochocinco said he had no plans for their romance to be documented on television.

He also hinted that the pair might try for a family in the future: “You know what, who knows? Maybe… You never know what’ll happen!”

The athlete was on the show to promote his new iPhone game Mad Chad.
