Their lives have been played out in front of millions on MTV like pages in a book. Once it goes live, there’s no turning back. Day 26 knew that life on the small screen would be intrusive and revealing, but their inner truths never seemed so raw and public. With the fights, the struggles and exploitation of their weakest moments used for our entertainment, this boy band can move forward knowing no past demon can plague what success they see clearly ahead of them.
On a call in with the guys, they were as inconsistently in attendance as many rehearsals and events that aired on the show. My call started with only Quanell (Que), Mike and Robert. Robert’s call got lost and so far, no Brian or Will.
IBH: So how is everyone in the band right now and what did you think of the experience on Making the Band 4?
Que: We’re doing very good. It [the show] was a learning experience for all of us. We wanted to be honest with the public and the fans and show them what actually happens in the [music] industry. What you guys saw was a lot of the hurt and the pain of what it takes to make it in this music business…
IBH: As the youngest in the group, how was the experience from a personal standpoint?
Que: …in certain situations I had to learn by myself. I’m 20 years old. If your mind is not in the right place, you’re not going to make it in this business. I had some challenges myself and I had to learn to control my emotions…
IBH: There is so much not see on air, that you can all but make a behind the scenes episode to tie up questions left unanswered. Was there anything you wish they had not edited out?
Que: I feel like they didn’t always show what actually occurred to make me get so upset and why is being so crazy. I guess that’s TV, they got to have the ripple sometime.
Mike: I think they put us in situations that’s would make us react. If they put five guys in a house with three girls, we gonna end up arguing. They know these things.
