Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver Chad Ocho Cinco (formerly Chad Johnson) is using his off-season to pursue happiness off the field in his new VH1 reality show “The Tournament” (working title). The series is a mix of Ocho Cinco’s on-field charisma blended with the drama of the dating pool played out in a bracket-style dating tournament. The 10 episode, one-hour series is set to premiere in July 2010.

One of the NFL’s brightest stars, 32-year-old Ocho Cinco has been selected to the Pro Bowl six times and named an All-Pro three times. He legally changed his surname from Johnson to Ocho Cinco prior to the 2008 regular season to reflect the number 85 on his Bengals uniform. In the 2009 season, Ocho Cinco caught 72 passes for 1,047 yards and nine touchdowns. An avid user of social networks, Ocho Cinco has close to one million followers on Twitter and hundreds of thousands of fans on Facebook.

“The Tournament” will start with Ocho Cinco finding his “first 85″ by traveling all over the country meeting women that may be interested in dating him. Then, during the first episode, he will narrow the playing field down to the sweet sixteen – four women from each of the four regions of the country – Northern, Western, Southern and Central Divisions. The sixteen chosen women will be invited to join Ocho Cinco for the rest of the tournament-style dating competition.

Once the competition begins, Ocho Cinco will follow a tournament bracket where each of the ladies will have an opportunity to spend quality time with him while also facing off against one another in double-dates. The winner of each dating face-off will receive a game ball from Ocho Cinco and move on to the next round of the tournament, while the loser goes home. Ultimately the sweet sixteen will be narrowed down to eight and then the final four. In the end, the championship date between the two remaining women will result in Ocho Cinco awarding his chosen love the coveted Championship Ring. Hopefully, she turns out to be his greatest catch this season!

1^st Disney Cartoon to Feature African-American Princess Arrives on DVD

All Tiana (Anika Noni Rose) ever dreamed about as a child was of one day opening her own restaurant where she could make gumbo alongside her father (Terrence Howard), an aspiring chef. But he passed away while serving in the military during World War I, leaving it to his widow (Oprah Winfrey) to raise their daughter alone in New Orleans on a meager seamstress’ salary. Consequently, Tiana ended up having to work as a waitress in order to save enough money to purchase the abandoned warehouse she wants to convert into an eatery.

However, the blossoming beauty’s plan goes horribly awry when she is asked for a kiss by a frog while attending a costume party dressed as a princess. For the frog is actually Prince Naveen (Bruce Campos) who had been turned into a frog by a voodoo-practicing, diabolical witch doctor (Keith David). But because Tiana isn’t a real princess, a smooch from her fails to break the spell. Worse, she is also instantly transformed into a frog, leaving the two of them stuck in quite a terrible predicament.

Thus unfolds The Princess and the Frog, an enchanting fairy tale which is making history as the first of Disney’s 49 full-length cartoons to revolve around an African-American princess. Visually, the picture is a bit of a throwback, as it relies on hand-painted cells rather than the computer-generated imagery which has become generally embraced as the state-of-the-art. Nonetheless, in the Disney tradition, the movie proves to be a magical blend of romance and song.

En route to their re-humanization and a syrupy-sweet “happily-ever-after” sendoff into the proverbial sunset, our frustrated frogs enlist the assistance of a menagerie of colorful characters who intervene on their behalf, most notably, a firefly (Ray Cummings), an alligator (Michael Leon-Wooley) and a benign high priestess (Jenifer Lewis).  Between its jaunty jazz/blues/zydeco soundtrack (ranging from Randy Newman to Doctor John) and a stellar voice cast topped by Anika Noni Rose, Keith David and John Goodman, The Princess and the Frog adds up to a satisfying, cinematic treat.

An instant animated classic destined to delight kids of all ages for generations to come!

Wyclef

Wyclef Jean probably should have done a better job at not mixing business with pleasure.   The word is out that as Wyclef was asking the world to  donate money to his Yele Haiti charity that he was skimming some of those same funds to pay his mistress, Zakiya Khatou-Chevassus, $105,000 salary as an independent contractor back in 2008. Damn Wyclef, we tried to give you the benefit of the doubt… this is why I donated my money directly to the Red Cross.

So what did she do for that money? Zakiya Khatou-Chevassus is currently listed on Yele’s web site as the organization’s vice president. But according to five sources familiar with Yele’s operations, in 2008 she served as Jean’s personal assistant—working on his commercial endeavors as well as his charitable ones—and was involved romantically with the former Fugees star.

“She worked for Wyclef on all Wyclef matters,” says one source who has worked with Jean in the past. “She did whatever Wyclef needed that day, whether it was related to Yele or not. She would do things like book flights, and she wasn’t very good at it. It’s a shame that she made that much money.” The source said Khatou-Chevassus’ salary amounted to more than three times what Suzie Sylvain, Yele Haiti’s dedicated program director who is credited by many Yele Haiti insiders with actually keeping the organization running, was paid.

“Everyone knows they were in a relationship,” says another source familiar with Yele Haiti. “A dozen people, including me, saw and knew. It wasn’t a secret.” Jean is married, but he has said in the past that he has an open relationship with his wife.

Jean has a long history of using Yele Haiti’s money for his own commercial gain. In 2005, 2006, and 2007, the foundation paid out a total of $410,000 to commercial entities controlled in whole or in part by Wyclef, including a whopping $250,000 for advertising time on a Haitian television station he co-owns. In 2006, he demanded a $100,000 fee to perform at a Yele Haiti fundraiser designed to raise money for his own hometown.

The Game

Their BACK!!!  Yesterday Pooch Hall aka Derwin Davis tweeted to cast mates Hosea Chanchez (Malik) and Tia Mowry (Melanie) about the good new, The Game is coming back? Last year the cast claimed they didn’t know what was going to happen with the future of the show but it looks like everything is good to go.  The show will begin taping in 3 to 4 months and will be adding some new faces to the current line up.  I can’t wait to find out what happens with Derwin and Melanie after the marriage…and the new baby.

Elite and Neffe

Some people are just so ungrateful!  Keyshia Cole’s sisters Neffe and Elite when on V103’s Ryan Cameron show to talk about the new season of the “Frankie and Neffe” Show. During the interview they decided to vent their disappoint about Keyshia Cole turning her back on her family.

Neffe: You could never cut your blood loose no matter what you are doing on this earth. It runs through our veins. I’m gonna keep it 100. My sister decided to live a different life. It’s not because “oh we ghetto, we belligerent and loud”. We are all cut from the same cloth. [We all came from Frankie] If you see us, we out there, it’s just that Keyshia keeps hers from behind closed doors.

Elite: When I read it I was shocked. It was hurtful too. I had just come off of tour with Keyshia. We had 3 or 4 tours, I worked for my sister, I was her assistant for 8 months so I worked. I was shocked [by the statement]. Last time we spoke to her we didn’t think it was going to be a public permanent thing. When we last spoke to my sister, we had a family dinner to discuss some family matters and she was a little upset about the whole Frankie and Neffe Show.

Neffe: She is upset about it. She did not embrace the fact that “The Way It Is” was done and they had picked up “Frankie and Neffe”. We didn’t ask for that. We didn’t go to her and said “Sister Sister please can you give us a show. Can you give us a shot. Can we be stars”. We never asked Keyshia to do anything for us. She brought us down here to make our lives better but it didn’t get better, it got worse”.

Neffe then went on to say that she was fine living in California and that things didn’t take a turn for the worse until she moved to Atlanta.

Neffe: For the record, I love my sister but you have to understand this is real life this is not a game. She’s a beautiful person. The “Way It Is” didn’t cut us no checks. We didn’t start seeing no money until the Frankie or Neffe show.

Let’s be clear there would be no Frankie, Neffe or Elite if not for Keyshia.  Flat out, you all are embarrassing!  There is one thing to be ghetto but this is just bafoonary at it’s finest.  I don’t blame Keyshia at all for walking away from these people.  Everything can not be a MAN DOWN, CODE 10 situation. GROW UP!!!

Antonia Carter recently did an interview with VIBE magazine and talked about how their daughter, Reginae, was having a hard time with all the date changes and then seeing Weezy head off to jail.  “It was up and down, you know. One minute we thought he was going and she’d be sad and then he don’t go. The last day he finally went in, we didn’t go, so my daughter was like, ‘I wish I would’ve went.’ It was just too much.”

Toya says Lil Wayne asked her to be strong while he was locked up, saying that “at this point it is what it is, and we just gotta make the best of it.”

Basketball Wives

“Basketball wives” will air on VH1 and is an eight-episode half-hour series chronicling the lives of wives, girlfriends  and baby mama’s of NBA players Udonis Haslem, Eric Williams, Antoine Walker, Jermaine O’Neal, and of course, Shaquille O’Neal.  The show is the brainchild of now ex-NBA wife Shaunie O’neal. 

“This series will show viewers not only the glamorous side of being a celebrity wife,” said VH1’s executive vice president of programming Jeff Olde, “but also the challenges and hard work that go with it.”  (Yeah Right!!!)

The cast of basketball wives includes Royce Reed, a former dancer for the Orlando Magic who has a son with, Dwight Howard, Mesha O’Neal, wife of Miami Heat center Jermaine O’Neal, Evelyn Lozada (ex-fiancé of Antoine Walker) and Faith Rain (Udonis Haslem’s girlfriend).  Source

Lala Vazquez

La La Vazquez is gracing the cover for the April issue of Latina magazine.  In the mag La La talks about her relationship with longtime fiance NBA star Carmelo Anthony. “I don’t think people understand how hard I’ve worked to achieve the things I have,” she tells Latina.

Also in the issue Carmelo clears up this rumors about their extended engagement:

“Even with all that I’ve accomplished on my own,” says Alani “La La” Vazquez in the April 2010 issue of Latina magazine, “I know the story out there about me: ‘[Carmelo] ain’t gonna marry her. She got that ring but now he’s making her wait. He don’t really love her…’ For once…I’d like to tell the story as it is. Not as it’s told.”

“I wasn’t making her wait,” Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony tells Latina magazine of La La, his fiancée. “If anything, I was waiting for her to slow down. She was doing her own thing, handling her business and we were happy. When it was time to take it to the next step we did. Period.”

Regarding his  feels about La La and if he’s sure she’s the right one for him, Melo states “ I wouldn’t be with her if it was any other way.” “Understood?”
