Laurieann Gibson

Laurieann Gibson, choreographer for Lady Gaga and formerly Diddy’s “Making the Band,” has scored a “docusoap” series at E! produced by Ryan Seacrest.

The show, “The Dance Scene” has received a series greenlight. Eight episodes of the half-hour show will follow Gibson as she trains and leads a team of ambitious assistant choreographers and dancers as they prepare to work with high-profile stars.

“The competitive world of the professional dancer is grueling creative work,” says Lisa Berger, executive vice president of programming at E! “Watching Laurieann mentor these young artists, who will do anything to make it in the business, gives us a glimpse into a world where the pursuit of success and excellence outweighs all else.”

“Dance is at the center of pop culture — today more than ever — and Laurieann is an amazing force accelerating this huge wave of creativity,” Seacrest says. “This series gives audiences an insider’s view of how competitive the dance world is, the talent and ambition that a dancer needs to be successful in the Hollywood scene, and the drama that ensues along the way.”

The series debuts April 10.

Nicki Minaj and Jay-Z collected three trophies apiece at Saturday’s taping of the 2010 BET Hip-Hop Awards.

Lil Wayne’s female protégé scored Rookie of the Year, People’s Champ and the Made You Look honor, which was awarded in recognition of her fashion flair.

Sporting a black dominatrix-like outfit, blond bob hairdo, pink nails and lipstick, Minaj took to the stage to accept her first award and was overcome by the recognition.

“Last year, I was here in anticipation of the cypher,” she told the crowd, referring to the artist rap freestyles that run in between the award presentations and performances. “Now I’m here in anticipation of my debut. ["Pink Friday," set for release Nov. 23.]

“I’m paving the way for girls,” she continued. “I wanna thank all the girls of hip-hop.”

Jay-Z, who was a no-show, earned Perfect Combo (for his Alicia Keys-assisted “Empire State of Mind”), CD of the Year (“The Blueprint 3″) and Best Live Performer.

The 2010 BET Hip-Hop Awards, hosted by Mike Epps, is scheduled to air Oct. 12 at 8 p.m. on BET.

Rick Ross earned two awards: the Miami don’s “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast)” earned Track of the Year for producer Lex Luger, and the industrial-strength number nabbed Club Banger of the Year honors.

Ross also delivered one of the night’s most memorable onstage moments when he, Diddy and DJ Khaled opened the show with a pyrotechnic-enhanced rendition of his award-winning anthem before easing the Atlanta Civic Center crowd into “MC Hammer.”

“B****, I’m MC Hammer,” Ross rapped. “I’m about cream. I got 30 cars, whole lot of dancers/ I take them everywhere, I’m MC Hammer/ Started selling dough, I’m too legit to quit/ When it’s hammer time, I’m pulling out the stick.”

MC Hammer himself then appeared onstage, leading a troop of dancers dressed in ensembles honoring the Marines. The veteran superstar performed his hit “2 Legit 2 Quit.”

B.o.B brought his hometown crowd to its feet with a rousing rendition of his next single, the melancholy “Don’t Let Me Fall.”

Iconic female trio Salt-N-Pepa were honored with the I Am Hip-Hop award. Diddy (Hustler award), Swizz Beatz (Producer of the Year) and DJ Khaled (Best DJ) rounded out the winners. DJ Premier led a tribute to Guru, the late Gang Starr MC.

The ceremony featured seven cyphers, from the father and son pairings of Ice Cube and his two boys rhyming with Reverend Run and Diggy and Jojo Simmons to the Rosewood cypher, which featured Kanye West and his G.O.O.D. Music family: Common, Pusha T, Big Sean and CyHi Da Prynce.

Jennifer Lopez is making her return to TV this time as a judge on “American Idol.” The “American Idol” opening for Lopez comes with comedian-talk show host Ellen DeGeneres’ departure from the show.

Degeneres announced Thursday she was leaving after one year as judge.

“A couple months ago, I let Fox and the ‘American Idol’ producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me,” DeGeneres said in a statement. The comedian-talk show host said she realized that while she “loved discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings.”

In May, Simon Cowell exited after nine seasons to start a new talent show for Fox.

Those under consideration for his spot, according to reports, are a varied group that includes Steven Tyler and Harry Connick Jr .

Sean “Diddy” Combs threw out the first pitch at Florida Marlins Super Saturday Concert over the weekend in Miami, Florida. Diddy also performed with Dirty Money later that night inside the stadium. View video below.

Lil Wayne

Lil Wayne may be getting off with only 8 months of his year-long prison sentence. According to MTV news, the rapper may be getting out by Nov. 4.

Despite him being locked away, it’s as if he never left. With Drake debuting at the top of Billboard charts with “Thank Me Later,” a track Wayne served as executive producer.

Drake recently visited him in prison and told reporters about his experience.

“He kept looking to the window,” Drake said. “He’d look up at the window almost like he’s looking right through it. It’s frosted, so you can’t see out. I was like, ‘Why does he keep staring through the window? There’s nothing out there.’ To him, there’s a whole world moving out there that he hasn’t seen for so long.”

But that hasn’t been his only visitor. Diddy and Fat Joe took a trip to visit.

“He’s doing fairly well,” Joe told MTV News. “Way better than I thought he would be doing. He was telling me some crazy funny story about him and this older guy. They are always going back and forth with each other, arguing. To hear him say it, it’s like Archie Bunker [with this guy].”

That’s not all. Wayne will be hitting music stores and iTunes with a new album before the end of the year is out. His peers are expecting him to be hard at work once he returns, even doing a lil’ welcome back concert.

Fonzworth Bently has moved on from his former Umbrella holding days as he confirmed to UsMagazine.com that he is engaged to Faune Chambers, who co-starred with Brad Pitt in the phenomenal blockbuster, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”

“We are so excited!” he told Us on Wednesday. And he wasn’t playing about the ring.

He put on her finger a 3-carat asscher-cut diamond from New York’s Ozuro Fine Jewelry.

“I tricked her! She thought it would happen on Christmas but I did it right before New Year’s,” Bentley said. “She said yes and I was so excited. Afterward, she kept wanting to call and tell her mother and I told her not to – because then we walked into a restaurant where my parents and her parents were waiting. We all had lunch and then I walked them all back to show them where I proposed.”

Lil Kim has beef with Drake, Nicki Minaj and Diddy... Lil Kim is continuing to take shots at two of Young Money's biggest stars along with her longtime friend and Bad Boy affiliate.

The Queen Bee stopped by Ed Lover's Power 105 Morning Show to take more shots at Drake, Nicki Mianj and Diddy who have all been at the center of her most recent disses.

As previously reported Kim called Drake out for coming to Nicki's defense when the Queen Bee and Ray J dissed her, deeming him a “straight pu**y” and added that subliminal disses by Minaj are the cause for her beef with the rapper.  The battle now continues as she talks about Drake again and tells Lover that Drizzy should've addressed Ray-J for dissing Nicki and calls him “pink” for choosing to direct a diss her way instead.  “For Drake to fire back at me, you looking real on the pinker side of life Drake because you were suppose to fire that back at who said it which was a guy!”

Moving on to Young Money's Harajuku Barbie, Kim says that she's “flattered” by Nicki's obvious “copying” but says her subliminal shots are unnecessary especially in an industry where women need to stick together.

“First of all, to be copied is the biggest form of flattery. It's not about her copying me. It's not about that. It's about her copying me and her creating that reign and then busting shots at me. I have a problem with that because as females we are already a minority in this industry so we need to kind of stick together and come out as a team against the fellas…”

When asked about Diddy however the Queen is much less understanding and much more direct saying that she was “disappointed” in him for taking up for Minaj.
According to Kim, he “usually says something intelligent” but jumped to Nicki's defense even after she dropped the line “Did I kill the queen?” on Dirty Money's “Hello, Good Morning” remix.

Kim goes on to add:

Quite frankly, I gotta say I was very disappointed in him because usually he says something very intelligent and usually I can take something from him as my big brother. But I must say that in this specific statement that he made I was very disappointed…because number one he said I was mad. He set up there and said “she never tried to copy you, she never said anything bad against you”. Look at the new video! she talking about “did i kill the queen”. You wanna be subliminal? This is hip hop! If I was mad New York, we would have had the first earthquake you've ever seen!”

In between talking about her issues with the members of the rap community, Kim also spoke on her possible signing to Roc Nation.
As previously reported she confirmed her new affiliation with the Roc on a video of her announcing, “It's the Roc baby” and throwing up the dynasty sign.
When asked by the morning show host about her affiliation with Jay-Z's record label she played coy to the question and said,
“I love Jay. For me to work with him, for that to happen I think it would be incredible. It would be very historic.
