Janet Jackson has confirmed reports that she and her family attempted several times to help her brother Michael with his drug problem, but that he rebuffed those attempts to intervene.
"You can't make 'em drink the water," Jackson told ABC's Robin Roberts in an interview that aired last night.
When asked if her brother was in denial about his addiction, she replied, "Possibly."
"I wish he could answer this question for you and not me," she told Roberts for her "In the Spotlight" special. "I felt that he was in denial."
As previously reported, Jackson blames Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson's personal physician, for his death June 25. Prosecutors in Los Angeles are weighing charges against Murray, who told police he administered a powerful anesthetic to the singer shortly before he died.
She said she hasn't seen "This Is It," the new documentary film spotlighting her late brother as he prepared for the concert tour that would've taken place last summer.
"I definitely won't, not right now," she said. "I don't know if I will ever see it."
Her new video for “Make Me” airs tonight on ABC.

We wondered how long it would take. Now we know. Michael Jackson's baby sister, Janet, is finally speaking out about his death and who she thinks is responsible.
It's no surprise that she's putting the blame squarely on Dr. Conrad Murray. In an interview with ABC's Robin Roberts, Janet says the doctor should no longer be allowed to practice medicine.
"He was the one that was administering. I think he is responsible."
As has been reported, Dr. Murray, Michael personal physician, remains the focus of a manslaughter investigation into the pop star's death. Murray has admitted to administering the anesthetic propofol, but has denied giving Michael anything that should have killed him.
Janet, who hasn't spoken out or shared her thoughts about the death of Michael, opened up to Roberts in an exclusive interview that will air, Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 10pm E/P.
"It's been a tough year," she said. "You have your days where it's just really -- it's hard to believe. And a day doesn't go by that I don't think about him."
Jackson recounted the details of the morning of June 25, the day that rocked her world.
Are Janet & Jermaine Over???
July 20th, 2009
ibhmagazine Us Weekly is reporting that Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri have broken up in the wake of her brother Michael's death.
The magazine's Web site quotes unnamed sources who say the couple called it quits after nearly seven years together because they are "polar opposites [who] were never too compatible."
Rumor has it that the relationship was on shaky ground after Dupri was a no-show at Michael Jackson's memorial service. Not to mention that Janet recently left the publicist she shared with Dupri for another high-powered mouthpiece," wrote E! Online's Marc Malkin.
As of now, Jackson is reportedly back in Atlanta reprising her role as Patricia in the sequel to Tyler Perry's 2007 comedy hit "Why Did I Get Married?"
Meanwhile, gossip blogger Janet Charlton said the following of the alleged strained relationship: "One reason that Jermaine Dupri hasn’t been seen in the company of his off-again on-again girlfriend is because there’s a good chance that she will get custody of Michael’s three children.
"Jermaine says he never goes to funerals and has been avoiding the hoopla over Michael, while Janet spends most of her time with her family, making numerous decisions.
"Katherine Jackson has temporary custody of the children, but Janet has bonded with them and volunteered to raise them. The family agrees that Michael would have approved. Jermaine is keeping a low profile until things are settled."
