Lebron James and alleged Daddy

In new documents filed this week, the man claiming to be the biological father of NBA star LeBron James alleges a 2007 DNA test that disproved his paternity was inaccurate.

According to TMZ, 55-year-old Leicester Bryce Stovell filed new papers in his paternity case against LeBron and his mother Gloria — claiming the NBA superstar’s recent motion to dismiss the case is based on a “fraudulent” DNA test from 2007, and therefore, should be thrown out.

Stovell is also seeking $4 million from LeBron and his mother — claiming fraud, defamation and misrepresentation.

In the new documents, Stovell alleges Gloria falsified the 2007 test — which showed a “0% probability of paternity” — and he wants a second, more carefully supervised test.

Additionally, Stovell is seeking compensation from LeBron because he lost “gifts of money” that he would have received from the athlete had the test proven paternity.

NBC caught up with him Sunday after playing in a celebrity golf tournament in Nevada. He says it’s something he wouldn’t have done.

“There’s no way, with hindsight, I would’ve ever called up Larry [Bird], called up Magic [Johnson] and said, ‘Hey, look, let’s get together and play on one team,’” Jordan said. “But that’s … things are different. I can’t say that’s a bad thing. It’s an opportunity these kids have today. In all honesty, I was trying to beat those guys.”

Not to be left out in his own interview to the Arizon Republic, Charles Barkley said:

"Mike and I are in 100% agreement on this." If you're the two-time defending NBA MVP, you don't leave anywhere. They come to you. That's ridiculous. I like LeBron. He's a great player. But I don't think in the history of sports you can find a two-time defending MVP leaving to go play with other people."

In an ESPN primetime presentation, King James announced that he would be joining the Miami Heat, alongside Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. An announcement that stirred echoes of sharp disappointment from Cleveland and resounding cheers in South Beach.

James insisted that his decision is purely business and he must do what’s in his best interests. He listened to pitches from 6 teams, weighed his options and courageously left the nest to finalize his choice of Miami. A careful strategy that reveals James’ performance on the court and his business savvy are of high caliber.

We are happy for LeBron.  This is a business  and LeBron doesn't owe anything to anyone.  Cleveland fans are just going to have to get over it!

Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight.

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his “decision” unlike anything ever “witnessed” in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.

There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.

You simply don’t deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our “motivation” to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

Sorry, but that’s simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown “chosen one” sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And “who” we would want them to grow-up to become.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called “curse” on Cleveland, Ohio.

The self-declared former “King” will be taking the “curse” with him down south. And until he does “right” by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

Just watch.

Rumor has it is that Jay-Z will play a huge part regarding where NBA MVP Lebron James will be playing next season.

Sonny Vaccaro, the Adidas sneaker king who has known LeBron James since James was in ninth grade, told The Post that Jay-Z could emerge as the biggest force in LeBron James’ decision on free agency.

Vaccaro said Jay-Z’s influence may even trump that of his top inner circle of childhood friend/business manager, Maverick Carter, notorious confidant William Wesley and agent Leon Rose. And Vaccaro says that bodes well for the Nets and Knicks. Jay-Z has a 1.5 percent piece of the Nets, but also is an occasional celebrity-row occupant at the Garden, with his wife Beyonce.”I don’t think the Nets would be involved without Jay-Z,” Vaccaro told The Post. “LeBron and Jay-Z is something that is inseparable and you almost have to include that in the equation. I think he will be consulted. It’s a very good relationship. Jay-Z was LeBron before LeBron was LeBron. That’s the respect LeBron shows him.”

One NBA source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the person didn’t want to offend James’ inner circle, told The Post, “If you ask me who the most important person in this is besides blood, I’d say Jay-Z. That helps the Nets, but Jay-Z will understand it as a friend if he doesn’t come. But I think (Jay-Z) helps the Knicks a lot more than Chicago.”

Another NBA insider said Jay-Z’s dream scenario would be James signing a contact with the Knicks with an opt-out after three years, then darting across the Brooklyn Bridge once the Nets are ensconced there. James would still be in his prime at 28. According to a Jay-Z spokesperson, the rapper is touring Europe much of June and July but assured he and James communicate regularly. Jay-Z’s public wooing of James before July 1 could be construed as tampering by paranoid NBA commissioner David Stern. Carter, James’ top advisor, said James will sit down this week to look over his options.

Two years ago, with James’ free-agency still far away, Jay-Z was quoted in an Esquire magazine story, saying James playing for the Nets “would be a dream for me. But he’s my friend first. I want the best for him wherever he is. He’s my friend before he’s a commodity.”

LeBron James is making good on his promise.

James has filed paperwork with the NBA to change his uniform number next season to No. 6 from No. 23, the league confirmed on Tuesday.

James said earlier this season he would be willing to give up No. 23 in an effort to have the league retire it in honour of Michael Jordan.

Most people only know LeBron James the basketball phenom who went straight from high school to the NBA and became the youngest MVP in the history of the league. However, few are aware of how challenging a childhood he had to overcome en route to the pros, being raised by a young single-mom.

In fact, Lebron moved about a dozen times between the ages of 5 and 8, living in some of the worst projects around Akron, Ohio. Fortunately, his financially-struggling mother, Gloria, had the good sense to let her son stay with his coach’s family until she was able to provide him with a stable home situation. 

LeBron ended up forming what would prove to be lifelong bonds during his formative years, first while playing in an AAU league and later while attending St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. For over that period, he had the same teammates: Dru Joyce III, Romeo Travis, Willie McGee and Sian Cotton. Consequently, as LeBron reminisces, “It was basketball, but it was more like friendship than anything.”           

Furthermore, they were coached by Dru’s father, a practical role model who impressed upon them from the outset that basketball was “more than a game.” LeBron and company took that message to heart, cultivating not only character, individually, but a chemistry and cohesiveness, collectively, which would stand the test of time.

That tight-knit squad enjoyed unparalleled success on the court, including the national championship title. Yet, this moving documentary focuses as much on their achievements away from the sport to drive home more important points about the value of loyalty, persistence and integrity in overcoming any adversity.  

And although LeBron was obviously the star of the team, the picture devotes equal time to all the members, each of whom had his own cross to bear. Along the way, we learn that Willie was raised by his big brother, because both of his parents were drug addicts; that diminutive Dru had a short kid’s complex; that Romeo had anger management issues; and that Gentle Giant Sian struggled to outgrow his clumsiness.

At heart, an inspirational bio-pic about the transcendent magic of friendship forged in pursuit of hoop dreams.
