Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have confirmed that they are expecting a child. The couple sat down with Access Hollywood in a three-part interview to confirm the news.

“Yes, we are pregnant. This is true,” Carey, 41, said. “It’s been a long journey. It’s been tough because I’ve been trying to hold on to a shred of privacy.”

Husband Nick Cannon, 30, joined the interview to talk about the “absolutely emotional” news, adding, “The greatest gift on earth is a child.”

Carey, who also told of a miscarriage two years ago, would not reveal her due date. She would only say “it’s still early” and “expecting is great.” Ever-supportive Cannon said of the loss, “It strengthened our relationship so much … she handled it so well.”

"I said, 'What? You're kidding me?,' " Perry writes in a lighthearted new letter to his fans. "It's five days before she has to go to work; nobody does that. We have a deal."

Jetting back to Atlanta where the movie is filming, he selected Thandie Newton to fill Carey's role. (She will join Whoopi Goldberg, Kerry Washington and Janet Jackson in the cast.) Perry also discovered that the singer's doctor was to blame for her sudden departure.

"I was told that we got a call, saying that even though our deal was done, she had been advised by her doctor not to do the film," Perry writes. "I said, 'What? You know I want a doctor's note, don't you? LOL."

As pregnancy rumors surround Carey, her would-be director won't buy into any speculation. "All I know," he writes, "is that I'm waiting just like the rest of the world to find out what happened."

In the end, he doesn't hold Carey's decision against her.

"What I do know of [Carey] is that she is a professional and wouldn'tback out of a deal unless it was a major issue," Perry writes. "So, whatever is going on, I wish her and Nick [Cannon] the best and she has all my love, prayers and support."

It's official! Nick & Mariah are going to be parents. Mariah has been seen in and out of medical clinics for a few weeks now and it looks like things have paid off for the happy couple.  Congrats!

Now a source close to Mariah and husband Nick Cannon tells RadarOnline.com the couple — who renewed their vows to celebrate their second anniversary in May — are at last with their first child.

“They’re both very excited and very happy,” dished our insider. Said our insider: “Mariah and Nick want to keep the pregnancy quiet as long as they can.”

Which could explain why Mariah never got out of her Rolls Royce convertible during a road trip with Nick along the Malibu coastline on Saturday.

Nick and Mariah Cannon renewed their wedding vows this past weekend at their house in Beverly Hills. The two celebrated their 2nd anniversary.

Nick teamed up with DUB Magazine to help build his wife a custom Porsche Cayenne, which was one of his many gifts to her for the superstar’s 40th birthday. Nick worked directly with our paint specialists to come up with a completely one of a kind “Mariah Carey Pink” color for the Porsche. He chose 22″ TIS Modular wheels which were painted with a combination of flat and semi-gloss black with color-matched “Mariah Carey Pink” accents and paired with a grippy set of Nitto NT 420S tires. The interior was also restitched to include pink piping and stitching on black leather and suede seats with her initials “MCC” embroidered on the headrests. To finish it off, Nick chose top of the line Alpine components to satisfy all of Mariah’s car audio needs.

Black Voices is reporting that Tyler Perry has revealed the cast of his upcoming film which will star Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Jurnee Smollett, Kimberly Elise, Kerry Washington, and Macy Gray.

The film is based on the 1975 play which is still performed today and, “consists of a series of poems performed through a cast of nameless women, known only by a color. It deals with such subjects as love, abandonment, rape, and abortion.”

Filming begins in June in NYC and has a January 14, 2011 release date.

Mariah Carey wrapped up her Angels Advocate tour this weekend at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace and then headed over to the Official End of Tour Party held at Haze Nightclub in Las Vegas which included a performance from Ciara.
